MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING – June 7, 2010 5:00 PM

Selectmen Present:        Eric R. Munson, Jr., Steven DellaGiustina and Thomas Paine


Also Present:  Wayne Carr, Department of Public Works Superintendent


Discussed Plan of work

Tree trimming – cutting back on side of roads
Tree Cutting – cutting down tree stumps
Replacement of culverts –
Paving – skim coat of Colebrook River Road approximate cost $300,000
Line painting
Clean up of winter sand on roads
Regard roads so die of the roads are not higher then the ditches
Garage clean up inside and out to get rid of unneeded items

Requested that roads get checked weekly
Allowing one day a week for any paperwork
Try and use delivery service for parts

Discussed earned Compensation Time, looking for any suggestions.

The condition of the box culvert on Colebrook River Road is not as bad as first thought. The retaining walls will need some work. The cost has not yet been quoted.

Wayne would like to hire Charlie Adams to work part time for the department for road safety when needed. Wayne would like to pay his salary out of his expense budget. The board thought that all monies for part time help is removed. The hiring of additional help will have to be discussed further.

Jean Armitage, Co Chair of the Bicentennial Committee

Winds of Tolland will not be available for the Bicentennial events July 16 & 17. Joe Clark will change his event time slot with a little history of Tolland and the Art Show.

A Bicentennial banner will be hung by the Department of Public Works.

Joanne Duval – Transfer Station

Joanne went over the expenses of the Transfer Station. In her figures she believes that the monies voted at the Annual Town Meeting will leave the Fiscal 2011 budget at the close of the fiscal short $1,672.84


Transfer Station permits and bag tags will remain at the current price.

Joanne will continue to work on the following

Recycling of light bulbs
Households not buying permits
Camps recycling
Hours

Wayne will be asked to move the metal recycle bin to the Transfer Station so that the permit holders can use the bin.
